The Barnes’ Family Plane The photo was taken on Jan. 2,2010. From left to right are myself, my wife Fran, sons Terry, Charlie and Earl, and grandchildren Brett and Alyson. All seven of us either soloed in or got our private tickets in this plane – a 1946 Cessna 120, N72572. I did most of my training in 572 and took my private check ride in it. Fran soloed in and took all her training and check ride in 572. Terry took his private and commercial check rides in it. Charlie did most of his training in 572 and took his private and commercial check rides in it. Earl soloed in and took all of his training and check rides in 572. Brett soloed in 572 and Alyson soloed in and took her check ride in 572. We bought 572 in 1971 for $1,800. The wings have been recovered twice and the plane repainted once. Needless to say, Cessna N72572 is part of our family and presently lives in Charlie’s hanger at Dunn Airpark in Titusville. Terry, Charlie and Earl are also members of EAA 797 You nose people eat your heart out! Just kidding. Fran and I have a 1967 Cessna 172, we bought in 1975 and love it almost as much as the 120.
